Primary pupils learn about rivers, engineered structures and flooding

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service used our mini river flume to demonstrate hazards in the water environment during water safety sessions at Upper Wharfedale Secondary School.
On Saturday 11th September we attended the Skell Valley Project celebration event near Ripon, demonstrating our augmented reality sandbox.
We were pleased to support two school events and a community engagement event using our physical demonstration models in mid July.

A stunning new collection of water photographs has just been published by Keith Beven, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Lancaster University and one of our trustees. ‘The Still Dynamic’ is a collection of Keith’s favourite photographs and raises funds for WaterAid.

On Friday 9th April, we supported an event for trainee maths teachers, organised by the North Yorkshire STEM Hub and the Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarship scheme.
The flood hydrology roadmap is a long-term vision and plan to advance UK flood hydrology. We have supported the roadmap project by helping to shape initiatives from which a delivery plan is now being drafted. A webinar giving an update on the roadmap and outlining the delivery plan for its first 7 years is now available.
We hosted a virtual event for year 5 and 6 pupils at St Paul’s Primary School in York. The sessions explored flooding, flood risk and careers that help us understand these risks.
