Modelling nature‐based, in-channel approaches to flood management at catchment scale
New paper shows how the impacts of spatially distributed, nature-based runoff attenuation features can be assessed within a hydrological model. A test case in North Yorkshire illustrates the potential for reductions in peak flows downstream, and offers some insights about this kind of “natural flood management” (NFM) strategy at whole-catchment scale.
