Funding and support

By working in partnership and developing relationships with universities, schools and other charities, we provide support for a wide range of people and organisations.

Early career researchers

We offer opportunities for individuals, especially at an early career stage, to enhance their skills and experience by working on research-based projects with us, for example through our PhD programme.

Sometimes we support masters research projects by providing technical expertise, facilitating access to software and data, and supporting dissemination of the research.

Scholarships and bursaries

We provide scholarships and bursaries to postgraduate students on university courses.

Our support is targeted at students studying hydrology and catchment management related masters courses, and also at practitioners wishing to develop their skills and technical expertise in flood and coastal risk management as part of their continuing professional development (CPD).

STEM outreach

We work with schools to develop learning resources for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects, in particular relating to water, environmental engineering and sustainability.

We encourage students to participate in STEM subjects and highlight the interesting and varied career opportunities that are available in the water and environmental risk management sector.

Working with you

If you think that the work of the JBA Trust could be helpful to you, for example by using some of your data in a case study, joining you as a partner in a research project proposal, or working together to make a greater impact by coordinating our activities, then we would be happy to hear from you.

Please get in touch.
