In August 2022, devastating, widespread flooding in Pakistan displaced 33 million people and highlighted the importance of earth observation (EO) data for observing flood extent. New research enables a quantitative, location specific measure of flood map accuracy to help improve flood forecasts.
In this seasonal summary of our weather station data we consider the weather events during Summer 2022, including an insight in to the two heat waves that occurred in June and August.

A stunning new collection of water photographs has just been published by Keith Beven, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Lancaster University and one of our trustees. ‘The Still Dynamic’ is a collection of Keith’s favourite photographs and raises funds for WaterAid.
