Water safety awareness sessions for Year 7 pupils

On Friday 18th February, Upper Wharfedale Secondary School in North Yorkshire held a safety awareness day for all Year 7 pupils. Representatives from the emergency services ran a range of sessions, including water safety, road safety, internet safety, home fire safety and CPR.

We were invited to assist Robbie Kirkbride, North Yorkshire Public Safety Officer, to deliver water safety sessions using the new water safety flume developed by JBA Trust, North Yorkshire Fire Service and Hydrotec Consultants.

Bridget Brady from JBA Trust commented:

“It was fantastic to use the new water safety demonstration flume as part of the water safety sessions for pupils. It provides a very powerful demonstration of the types of hazards that can be encountered in open water, particularly in rivers.”
