Exploring flood risk management during British Science Week

We were pleased to support British Science Week activities at Addingham Primary School, West Yorkshire, on Wednesday 16th March 2022.

Year 6 pupils used the JBA Trust interactive augmented reality sandbox to explore how water flows through a catchment and how changes in topography and land use can affect flooding.

Andy Evans and Zoe Smith from JBA Consulting kindly volunteered to run the sessions for pupils.

Andy commented “It was lovely to see the enthusiasm the children had for better understanding flooding and flood management, with some great ideas for future proofing Addingham and the surrounding area.”

Zoe added “I was delighted to be part of Science Week at Addingham Primary School and enjoyed introducing the children to flood risk management and new concepts such as Natural Flood Management (NFM). They were all engaged and keen to learn how to protect their village and houses from flooding.”

If the JBA Trust models would be useful for your work with students, professional groups or communities, please contact us for more details.
