We were delighted to support Honley Junior School’s recent ‘River Holme’ themed STEM week which covered weather, water resources, flooding, flood resilience, hydrology, river features, wildlife and ecology.
JBA Trust supported an interactive ‘Women in STEM’ session for year 9 students at Skipton Academy. The event was part of the WISE People Like Me initiative, inspiring the next generation of women in STEM and breaking down career stereotypes.
The British Hydrological Society, JBA Trust and the Environment Agency are delighted to announce that the MSc Studentship Award Scheme is open for applications. It aims to support talented students wishing to complete an MSc course related to hydrology, water resources and catchment management and to encourage the development of academic expertise in hydrology.
Slow the Flow Calderdale held a ‘Community Led Natural Flood Management’ conference in Hebden Bridge on Saturday 30th March. JBA Trust were proud to sponsor the event which provided an opportunity for delegates to learn about experiences and developments in natural flood management from both a local and national perspective.
Our augmented reality sandbox proved very popular with Year 5 and 6 pupils at Addingham Primary School last week. Sandbox workshops exploring rivers and their landscape were held as part of a series of events at the school to mark National Science Week.

On Friday 10th March, the JBA Trust’s wave tank was in action at the Ruth Gorse Academy in Leeds as part of a a Careers Fair for year 7 to 11 students.
On Wednesday 13 February, the UK Space Agency held an Earth Observation Careers Day at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Didcot. Secondary school students were able to learn about the wide range of career opportunities that utilise satellite data to monitor and manage the planet.
On Thursday 24 January, we delivered an ‘Interactive Geography Day’ for all Year 9 pupils at Ermysteds Grammar School, Skipton. We explored some of the issues around flood and coastal risk management, providing an exciting and innovative way of learning how water behaves in rivers and at the coast.

Two of our hydraulic river flumes were in action at the Peterborough STEM Festival on 13 October as part of a range of fun hands-on activities to celebrate and experience the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
