Highlighting careers in flood risk management

Ermysted’s Grammar School in Skipton, North Yorkshire, held its biennial careers fair for all students from Year 7 to Year 13 and their parents on Wednesday 19th October 2022.

The event comprised a marketplace of organisations, employers and Universities. It provided students with an opportunity to find out about a range of careers, the types of qualifications required and pathways they can follow to reach their career goal.

Ellen Corry and Gregory Brown, flood risk modelling analysts at JBA Consulting volunteered on behalf of JBA Trust to attend the event. They talked to students about their career journeys, highlighted the types of careers available in the flood risk management and environmental sector and demonstrated the JBA Trust wave tank.

   

Ellen commented: “I enjoyed the opportunity to talk through my career path and the work I do at JBA. It was a busy evening and the wave tank really helped to get people engaged and talking about opportunities in the environmental sector and linking this with topics the students have studied at school.”
