Canoe club members learn about river environments
On Saturday 7th May, we were pleased to demonstrate our mini flume as part of a safety and rescue training course organised by Clitheroe Canoe Club in Lancashire.
We demonstrated the mini river flume to club members, showing how water behaves in rivers and how different river features and man-made structures can change the flow of water. The canoe club then ran a session focusing on water based safety and rescue techniques.
Tim Hogan, course organiser from Clitheroe Canoe Club commented:
“As a river leader I spend a significant amount of time explaining to clients how the dynamic water environments we work and play in can change, and that features in rivers create both dangers and places of safety.
The mini flume allows paddlers of all abilities to understand how water behaves, and how to interact with it for a safe enjoyable trip.”
