Strategies for resilient and sustainable integrated catchment management

The JBA Trust is co-funding a PhD studentship with the Lancaster Environment Centre to research intermediate complexity models for catchment scale analysis of natural and engineered systems in river catchments. The research will take into account water quantity and quality, along with model and data uncertainties.

We are pleased to announce that the studentship has been awarded to Peter Metcalfe, who started work on the project in October 2012. Over the coming three years Peter’s research will develop an approach that can be applied to investigate future strategies for catchment management that are resilient to risks and could therefore help to deliver sustainable ecosystem and infrastructure services.

The academic supervisor for the project is Professor Keith Beven. Industrial co-supervisors are Dr Barry Hankin and Dr Rob Lamb.
