Institution of Civil Engineers CityZen Award 2022
JBA Trust were pleased to support the Institution of Civil Engineering (ICE) CityZen Award for a second year, as a member of the video judging panel and by donating a coastal wave tank to the winning team.
The competition aims to inspire students between the ages of 16 to 18 to follow a career in civil engineering. Teams of students:
- played CityZen, an online fictional city management game
- created a video that provides a creative solution to improve an issue in their local area
The competition winners were Team DirectLink from Hillhead High School in Glasgow. Their video focused on Glasgow’s transport links in and out of the city, highlighting the importance of ensuring quick and easy access to important locations.
We were delighted to meet Team DirectLink at Hillhead High School on Monday 17th April where we presented them with their wave tank prize and ran demonstrations for the school STEM club. The physics and geography departments will use the wave tank to help students learn about fluid mechanics and coastal flooding.
