Congratulations Dr Irina Rohrmueller!

We’re delighted that Irina has successfully completed her PhD research at Newcastle University, congratulations Irina!

Irina’s thesis, ‘A Physically Based System for the Next Generation of Global Hydrological Modelling‘, demonstrated that physically based global modelling can capture important process dynamics and offer a robust framework for climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and sustainable water resources management.

The research was undertaken through the NERC-funded One Planet Doctoral Training Partnership, an interdisciplinary programme spanning environmental informatics, climate change and Earth system science.

Irina’s advisory team was Professor Richard Dawson and Dr Stephen Birkinshaw at Newcastle University, Professor Benjamin Brock at Northumbria University, Dr Elizabeth Lewis at Manchester University and Dr Shaun Harrigan at ECMWF.

The project involved collaboration with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and was also supported by JBA Trust, with technical input from Duncan Faulkner at JBA Consulting.

Irina becomes the 14th researcher supported by JBA Trust to successfully complete their PhD.  You can find out more about our support for early career researchers here.
