Ask An ‘Ologist: A Science Outreach Adventure

In March 2024, we had the privilege of participating in a wonderful science outreach event aimed at igniting curiosity and passion among primary school children.

Hosted by the publisher Dorling Kindersley, who specialise in illustrated non-fiction books for children and adults, the Ask An ‘Ologist event featured a live webinar in which a panel of scientists answered questions from primary school children from across the world on four chosen topics: Fungi, Gems and Crystals, Vikings and Weather and Climate Change.

Sam Hardy, a Meteorologist at JBA Consulting who answered questions on tornadoes, weather forecasting and climate change as part of the event commented:

“It was an honour to be involved in such an energising and thought-provoking discussion, and to see the level of interest from the school children. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the importance in making science accessible and engaging for all!”
