JBA on lecture tour

JBA has been doing its bit this week with engaging with leading universities and encouraging new talent to our industry.


Jeremy Benn gave a lecture on ‘Hydrology & Hydraulic Modelling for Sustainable Flood Risk Management’ at Cork Institute of Technology on 7 March 2012.  The presentation was attended by 15 students from the MEng course in civil engineering.


Dr Rob Lamb, MD of the JBA Trust and JBA Chief Scientist gave lectures on risk concepts and flood modelling methods to MSc and MEng students at Lancaster University on Monday 5 March and Leeds University on 8 March.


Jeremy Benn (who is Visiting Professor of Flood Risk Management at the University of Sheffield) gave a lecture on flood risk management: structural and non-structural measures to the MSc Water Engineering students at the University on the 9 March 2012.


On March1 Dr Emma Raven gave a guest lecture at Durham University to a group of students studying for an MSc in Hazard and Risk. Her lecture was within their Hydrological Hazards module and hence was titled: "Hydrological Applications in the Insurance and Reinsurance Industry".


The JBA Trust supports and promotes scientific research, education and training in the fields of environmental risks and resources.
