Engagement and Technical Support Officer: Part-time (0.6 FTE)

The JBA Trust aims to enhance understanding and management of risks in the water environment by enabling research, education and training.  We work in partnership with universities, industry, government and other charities to achieve our goal.

Over the past two years, the Trust’s outreach and education activities have expanded.  There has been a significant increase in demand for demonstrations of our physical models, which we use to communicate concepts of river, catchment and coastal risk management. We aim to continue broadening the reach of our activities to maximise the benefits that we can deliver to the public.

There is now an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the JBA Trust team. The role will support the JBA Trust’s outreach and educational activities with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, and will involve coordinating the Trust’s physical models of rivers and coasts .

As an Engagement and Technical Support Officer, you will be involved in the organisation, coordination and delivery of demonstrations using the physical and other models to communicate flood risk concepts (full training will be given) to a range of audiences including the general public, universities, schools, flood risk management professionals and community groups.

Working with others in the JBA Trust and JBA Consulting, you will help to develop educational resources to support our STEM activities and carry out administrative tasks associated with delivering projects. You will be involved in the maintenance, design and build of new and existing physical models and other educational resources.

You will also provide technical and administrative support to the JBA Trust team. This will involve maintaining and updating documents including risk assessments, calendar appointments and financial records.

The position will be based at JBA’s Belle Vue Mills, Skipton, North Yorkshire office. Travel to events and our other offices around the UK will be an integral part of the role. A valid driving licence is essential.
